C2. Discuss the following questions in groups and answer:

1) “From above, the city looked haphazard and unplanned”. Why do you think the city looked so?

Ans: People had constructed buildings, malls, offices, gyms, houses, monuments, etc. without any proper plan as they wished. So, from above the city looked haphazard and unplanned.

2) Geographically, what is the importance of rivers and valleys? Explain their importance with reference to the second stanza of the poem.

Ans: Water is very resource for not only human beings but also animals. Man attracted to water in the form of rivers, he started to live in the valleys. Many civilizations had started by the rivers banks. Rivers were used for irrigating their crops and drinking water. Same way valleys were utilized for cultivating crops and nibbling animals.

3) The last stanza shows the degradation of human nature. Do you agree with this view? Justify.

Ans: Nature has gifted us with unlimited resources but human beings don’t know value. Human beings from being were finding one or another way to fight with each other and degrade themselves. As it is correctly said, there is end for need but there is no end for greed. Men have found so reasons to hurt each other and kill each other. They have divided themselves on the basis of religion, status, wealth, community, and so on. There is no limit for hatredness. Grudge and jealous has made men lesser than animals in value. Even animals know value of everything but human beings knowing everything, they are deaf, dumb and blind. Such insanity had enforced them to build wall across cities and shows the degradation of human nature.
