Comprehension

C1. Get into pairs/ groups and discuss the answers for the following questions.

1) What does the phrase "burning bright" mean?
Ans: This phrase expresses tiger's desires, emotions, flourishing life  and tiger's eyes. 


2) What is not burning bright?
Ans: The tiger's emotions, desires, anger, and the sign of the soul are not seen in the forest. 

3) What is the "plight" referred to in the poem?
Ans: The bad and difficult situation of the tiger is referred as the plight in the poem.

4) According to the poet, what are we not able to understand?
Ans: According to the poet, every creature has a very important role in this world, to maintain ecosystem every animal is important same way the importance of tigers we are not able to understand.


5) How was the tiger in the forest, according to the poet?
Ans: 'Tiger' name is enough that all animals tremble in fear by its thunderous roar. Monkeys screamed, birds flew away from tops of the tree. He was like a king.


6) Where is the gecko hunting?
Ans: The gecko (a small tropical lizard) is hunting insects on the wall.

7) How did the tiger rule the forest?
Ans: As a king the tiger ruled in the forest.


C2. Get into pairs/ groups and discuss the answers to the following questions. 


1)  "Their souls were sick. Killing tigers."

a) Whose souls were sick?
Ans: Human souls were sick.

b) Why are their souls described as sick?
Ans: Humans are killing tigers to fulfill their greed. So, their souls are described as sick.

c) Why were the tigers killed?
Ans: Tigers were killed to obtain bones, skin and claws, overall to gain power for sick person.


2) "Once jungles trembled at his roar."

a) At whose roar did the jungles tremble?
Ans: At the tiger's roar the jungles trembled.

b) Why do they no longer tremble?
Ans: Tigers are almost in extinct and they are less in number. So, they no longer tremble.


c) Who is responsible for the tiger's fate?
Ans: Man is responsible for the tiger's fate.
